HOW I DO "TOURIST" IN STYLE

My city is filled with tourists. So naturally, as an avid people-watcher, I love to observe them and see what they are up to, the languages they speak, and most importantly, what they are wearing. I have observed a new fashion trend among the younger female tourists consisting of a tight-fitted dress or skirt, which would normally be worn to a club or drinks with friends, paired with a casual jacket or shirt and comfortable shoes, usually converse or Nike's. I am a firm believer in looking cute while roaming a new city; however, I have always found it hard to find outfits that are both fashionable and functional. Especially since most of my trips took place in the summer when it was a million degrees, and the less clothing you had on, the better. But, in lou of my best friend coming into town from the States to visit, and having the opportunity to take her around the city and play tourist for a few days, I decided to give this look a try. After much anxiety, I put on a tight-fitted, animal print (DUH) dress. I decided to pair it with black converse, which was a brilliant choice considering we walked over 18 miles throughout the whole weekend (we had to work off all of the sweets we ate somehow). The weather was a bit chilly so I decided to go with a tried and true layering option, wearing a brown sweater which was accompanied by a military green spring jacket. The outfit turned out to be both warm and cool, depending on the moment, was also extremely comfortable, and yet I still felt like a cute human being. I felt comfortable walking around the city, taking a million selfies, and also taking a break and sitting in a more exclusive restaurant for afternoon coffee. As I continue my touristy days with my best friend, I might need to recycle this outfit, and ones like it, so I can play tourist in style.  #dianasays
