Last weekend I was invited to attend DRÁGA VINEYARD'S 5TH ANNUAL CRUSH party, in the backyard of a suburban home of San Diego, just minutes away from my house. The owners, Maureen and Ferenc, a wonderful young couple with an amazing thirst for life and clearly for wine, organized the party for harvesting their grapes. You would never think that one of your neighbors' backyards could host an entire little vineyard. And not just any winery but one that produces International Award Winning wines!

Maureen greeted everyone with an amazing spread of breakfast goodies and of course with the customary drinks. 7:30 start with mimosas, followed by home made Palinka by Grandpa, tasting of last years' wines alongside some Limoncello. Who wouldn't want to pull on the gloves and grab the scissors immediately and start filling up the buckets with all the beautiful grapes? The harvest party was a diverse, international crowd filled with fun conversations across the aisles of grapes, listening to funny stories of international experiences with sometimes heavy French, Hungarian or Australian accents. Everyone worked pretty fast despite the scorching heat or for the very reason to finish fast so we could all spread out in the lovely garden to enjoy lunch, more drinks of course, and the fun atmosphere in the great company of new friends.
