OFFICE FASHION.....WITH A TWIST

Pants: H&M Vest: Bershka

Lately, due to a variety of reasons, my wardrobe has had a dramatic change. The most recent one is that I started a new job (YAY!). It's a corporate job but it's laid back which means I can wear pretty much whatever I feel looks appropriate. This includes jeans (ANOTHER YAY!) which really broadens the options for what to wear each morning.

Pants: Zara Coat: C&A

Standing in my closet with my hair done and a full face of makeup I often spend anywhere from 2-10 minutes staring at the moderate (others would say massive) amount of clothing both hanging and folded throughout the walls of my self made walk-in closet. My work style has been a mix of pants, skirts, and dresses, usually paired with a long or ankle boot. One of my favorite outfits was a 70's style wide leg, high wasted red pant which I paired with black ankle boots, a black tight turtle neck, and a faux fur vest. It was magic. Not only did it slim my figure, but it was so comfortable!

Another favorite are my faux fur jackets, which I have a slight obsession with! I have a grey toned one which I paired with an all black outfit of pants and long tunic and grey ankle boots; so chic and rocker-esque.

My new-found confidence with my style has been a long time coming. A few years ago I wouldn't have felt as comfortable wearing what I thought looked good, but rather I would have been concerned with what others thought was cute, sexy, and "in style". After a long struggle, I finally learned to listen to myself and my own instincts and really showcase the person that I am both personality-wise and through my fashion style, and work outfits give me such a great excuse to do just that. #dianasays

Hmm, the correct word to describe her closet is definitely "massive". There is nothing "moderate" about the amount of clothes and shoes my lovely daughter owns. After all, I was the one driving her to the airport for our tearful goodbyes with countless suitcases when she moved to Budapest. I also think the 2-10 minutes "choosing an outfit" is a major underestimation of the actual time it takes to pick the right attire. Trust me, I am speaking from experience. Countless trips to the mall, just to mention one. Imagine my youngest daughter and myself sitting in front of Diana’s dressing room visibly in serious pain and discomfort, sharing a tiny stool, waiting for her to emerge hopefully with the last outfit on. Standing in front of us looking to see our reaction, examining our faces for clues very carefully. Then moving in front of the three way mirror, checking all the little details of her dress from every possible angle. Now comes the fun part: she pulls on the right side of her outfit just ever so slightly to see how that would make the dress look, which tiny change no human eyes can possible detect but hers. Then pulls it back on the other side, even less. Then pulls it just a 10th of an inch up. Then down back again!!! Meanwhile I have to be careful not to show too much emotion because I would not want to give off a vibe of dislike when in reality I like it a lot but perhaps from exhaustion I am not able to express anymore how excited I am, not only about how great the outfit looks but also that she finally might have just found the one!

Joking aside, I have to admit, Diana has a great style and amazing fashion sense. It is special to see your daughter so confident and stylish. Always so perfectly put together including the smallest details. I absolutely adore the 70's look, love the red trapeze pants, such a fun outfit. Love, love the faux fur coat! Any color, any length, just so much fun and adds amazing texture to any outfit.

At this point in my life my "work" outfits mainly consists of my tennis skirts or workout clothes. No, I am not a tennis pro, not even close. Just a mom who ditched the playgroups and the children to have some well deserved fun on the courts with other moms and girlfriends. Sadly many times I stay in my gym outfits well into the day, doing some work on my computer before getting all cleaned up and dressed for the later part of the day. When I do dress up, weather permitting, I love to show my very feminine side, bringing out all my dresses and skirts.

I admire Diana for her confidence and great choices. I wish I had more that confidence myself. It is not easy to showcase your own style in such a fashion forward, trendy and celebrity ruled world we are living in. To keep your own identity, to take risks but at the same time stay classy and timelessly elegant. #mommydearest
